Word of Encouragement: Lord, When Are You Coming?

Wars, rumors of wars, natural disasters increasing, lawlessness abounding, and a great falling away; are these pointing to the return of our Messiah?

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.” Matthew 24:6

There will be earthquakes and famines, and all the signs are only the contractions of what’s coming. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.” Matthew 24: 7-8

There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars. On the Earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.” Luke 21: 25-26

You don’t have to be a Bible scholar to know the “birth pains” have increased in intensity and duration to the arrival of the awaited King of Glory. We don’t know the day of the return of our awaited King, but there are certainly some indicators He is coming sooner than later.

In recent months, I have found myself periodically looking towards the clouds asking,” Lord, when are you coming?” I sense deep in my spirit the answer is,” I’m coming soon.” Soon to me means like now, but soon to the Lord may mean something different. I am however more convinced the coming of our Savior will be in my lifetime.

It has been 2,000 years since Jesus’ ascension, and Christians are still waiting for His return. Christ said himself in Revelation 22:20 that, “he was coming soon!”Based on His statement the first century Christians thought He was coming during their lifetimes.

With the Lord in a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.” 2 Peter 3:8

Something to think about: The Bible makes it clear that those who have the Holy Spirit living in them, can understand the nature of the times that mark His return (1 Thessalonians 5:2-6). Jesus says that His coming “will be just like the days of Noah.” In other words, society will go full circle and return to being as evil as it was in those days.

Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him.” Revelation 1:7
