Word of Encouragement: Those who wait on the Lord Shall Renew Their Strength

So many precious saints are waiting for God to move in their lives and in the lives of those that they love. This message is for those who are waiting for God to do what only He can do.

Waiting is not easy, especially when there is no physical evidence that anything is getting any better. Oftentimes those waiting for promises to be fulfilled can get weary and discouraged. It is a wonderful thing if we have those in our lives who come alongside us and encourage us in the waiting, but far too much of this journey is a lonely one. People tend to unknowingly forget about those who are still “left behind” and hurting year after year.

Those that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength

God cares deeply about the forgotten ones. The ones who still waiting on their spouse, waiting to have a child, waiting for their healing, waiting for their loved one to be healed of their addiction, or waiting for their prodigal child to come to their senses.

Waiting is a lonely place. Others want you to just move on or to forget about your longings. While you can forget your longings for a short time, you can be triggered by a friend’s wedding announcement, or by the birth of a new family member.

God is calling on those whose waiting has become excruciatingly painful, to renew their strength in Him.

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their    strength;

they shall mount up with wings like eagles;

they shall run and not grow weary;

they shall walk and not grow faint. Isaiah 40:31

Isaiah 40:31 contains a great promise of strength for the weary. This promises a supernatural strength that would compare to mounting up as an eagle or running without fatigue.

We admit to the Lord we don’t have the strength we need, and we acknowledge that we need the strength that only He can give. And we wait for Him with hopeful expectations.

The word wait comes from the Hebrew word qavah.

This word means to expect or look for with eagerness. This word carries the idea of hope, patience, rest, and trust.
