Motivational Life Coaching Corner: Know Your Limits

Everyone has limits! To know yours is a sign of strength, not weakness. Limits are boundaries, what you decide is permissible and what is not.

Do not compare what others' limits are. We are all different in what we can endure and for how long.

Some key indicators will let you know you have gone past your limits:

  1. Feeling irritated, annoyed, and/ or angry.

  2. Feel drained physically, mentally, and/or spiritually

  3. Feel unrested or unable to settle down.

When you begin to feel yourself going beyond your limits, make the needed adjustments that will bring you back to a place of balance.

Listed below are (5) tips you can use to get back in balance:

  1. Say, “No,” when you are at full capacity or need the refueling to keep going.

  2. Get alone with God, find a solitude place, and allow the Lord to refresh you.

  3. Get off social media and take breaks from your phone.

  4. Make time for yourself by prioritizing self-care especially when you are feeling worn down. Put your “oxygen mask’ on first.

  5. Letting go of the guilt and people-pleasing that can often occur with not setting limits on your time, space, and relationships.
